FlightSpot — Privacy Policy & Community Guidelines

Who we are

FlightSpot is a personal aircraft-spotting logbook app with optional social features. For privacy questions, contact trekels.pepijn@gmail.com.

What we collect

• Account data: your email address and, if you use Google or Apple sign-in, the identity information those providers share (name, email).
• Profile data: the display name and username you choose.
• Logbook data: the spots you record — aircraft details, date and time, notes, photos you attach, and the GPS position of the spot if you allow location access.
• Social data: who you follow, likes, and comments you post.

Location access is optional and only used to tag spots, suggest nearby airports, and center the map. The app does not track your location in the background.

How your data is used

Your data is used solely to provide the app: storing and syncing your logbook, showing your spots to followers you accept content sharing with, and computing your personal statistics and badges. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Where your data lives

Data is stored with Supabase (database, authentication, and photo storage). A copy of your own logbook is also stored locally on your device so the app works offline. Photo files are stored at unguessable URLs; your spots, likes, and comments are only accessible to you and people who follow you.

Third-party services

• Supabase — hosting of account, database, and photos.
• Google / Apple sign-in — optional authentication; governed by their own privacy policies.
• adsb.lol — when you enable the live-aircraft map layer, your map viewport coordinates are sent to this service to fetch aircraft positions. No account data is shared.

Your rights

• Export: download your full logbook at any time (Profile → Data → Export).
• Correction: edit or delete any spot, comment, or profile field in the app.
• Deletion: delete your account and all associated data at any time (Profile → Delete account). This permanently removes your account, spots, photos, comments, likes, and social connections.

Community guidelines

FlightSpot's social features are for sharing aircraft spotting. Content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or unrelated spam is not allowed. You can report any spot, comment, or user from within the app, and block users you don't want to interact with. Reported content is reviewed and may be removed; accounts that repeatedly violate these rules may be terminated. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.

Children

FlightSpot is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
